WHY are we saved? For what purpose? — By PC

1. We are saved so that “we might become the righteousness of God.”

  • ESV 2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. **NOTE: we must change into the righteousness of God [My underline].

2. We are saved to become “pure and holy.”

  • ESV 1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.

3. For our bodies (in whatever capacity they promote sin)  to be marginalized “to nothing, no longer being enslaved to sin.”

  • ESV Romans 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

God has made us reconciled with Himself through Christ so that we could (and would) live lives of righteousness…holy lives.
