These promises are exclusively for those who are “in Christ.” NOTE: how each of these verses are pointing to those who are “in him,” or “in Christ.” Please see my blog to find out WHO abides in Christ, because those who “abide in Christ” are the same ones who are “in Christ.” This is an important caveat for those who are interested in soteriological theology (theology concerning the salvation of humankind). Only those “in Christ” may claim these promises:
- YOU ARE REDEEMED AND FORGIVEN
- ESV Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
- YOU ARE A NEW CREATION
- ESV 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
- YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE
- ESV Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- YOU SHALL BE MADE ALIVE
- ESV 1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
- THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION FOR YOU
- ESV Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
- YOU ARE SONS OF GOD
- ESV Galatians 3:26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
- YOU ARE SEATED WITH HIM IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES
- ESV Ephesians 2:6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
- YOU ARE FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH
- ESV Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
- YOU ARE GUARANTEED ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD
- ESV 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
- YOU ARE GIVEN HIS HOLY SPIRIT
- NLT Ephesians 1:13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.
11. GOD GIVES US UNDERSTANDING SO THAT WE MAY KNOW HIM
- ESV 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
- NOTHING IS ABLE TO SEPARATE YOU FROM THE LOVE OF GOD
- ESV Romans 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- YOU ARE A SANCTIFIED SAINT
- ESV 1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
- THE PEACE OF GOD GUARDS YOU HEART AND MIND
- ESV Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- YOU HAVE AN INHERITANCE THAT IS GUARDED BY GOD’S POWER
- ESV 1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
- ETERNAL LIFE, NEVER PERISH, AND PROTECTED BY THE HAND OF GOD
- ESV John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
